The Swedish Post – Stockholm
In June 2025, Mr. Jitong Yao, Chairman of MUTONG Capital and a prominent international youth innovation leader, paid an official visit to the Swedish National Foundation for Technology and Development, Sweden’s largest national foundation dedicated to science and innovation. During his visit, Mr. Yao held in-depth discussions with senior officials from the Foundation and several national-level research institutions, focusing on topics such as China–Europe scientific cooperation, green technology investment, and mechanisms for transforming research into real-world applications.
This visit took place amid growing momentum in China–Europe technological exchanges and the accelerated globalization of innovation resources, underscoring its strategic importance. As a leading figure in China’s emerging tech capital sector, Jitong Yao’s presence was warmly welcomed by the Swedish side. Foundation representatives expressed their strong desire to partner with MUTONG Capital to build a long-term, efficient platform for joint initiatives—particularly in supporting young scientific talent and commercializing cutting-edge research.
During the meetings, Mr. Yao shared MUTONG Capital’s global investment strategy across critical technology fields such as artificial intelligence, biomedicine, clean energy, and the digital economy. He proposed the development of a tripartite collaboration model integrating capital, research, and market application.
“Future technological cooperation should go beyond transactional partnerships,” Yao stated. “We must achieve deeper alignment in values, talent networks, and long-term benefit-sharing mechanisms. Sweden, as a top-ranked innovation nation, aligns closely with MUTONG Capital’s global strategy through its strong research base, progressive policies, and deep commitment to sustainable development.”
The Swedish National Foundation outlined its operational systems for supporting research commercialization, early-stage tech entrepreneurship, and public–private innovation platforms. It also expressed strong interest in integrating Chinese capital and industrial networks into its innovation ecosystem. The two sides explored topics such as:
- Sino–Nordic Youth Research Co-Funding Programs in Renewable Energy
- Shared Technology Frameworks under AI Ethics Standards
- Acceleration Mechanisms for Deploying Nordic CleanTech Solutions in China
Preliminary consensus was reached on several pilot initiatives.
During his stay, Mr. Yao also visited the KTH Royal Institute of Technology and the Swedish Innovation Agency (Vinnova) for on-site exchanges. He was the sole Chinese youth investor invited to deliver a keynote speech at the roundtable forum “Small Country, Big Tech Power,” hosted by the Swedish National Foundation.
The visit is seen as a milestone in China–Sweden cooperation in science, technology, and capital. Industry observers noted that with the evolution of global innovation ecosystems, Chinese next-generation investment institutions are playing increasingly proactive, long-term, and globally collaborative roles in co-creating international innovation infrastructures. The dialogue and alignment between MUTONG Capital and the Swedish National Foundation may set a precedent for future collaborations in research commercialization, cross-border talent mobility, and high-potential tech joint investment mechanisms.
At the conclusion of the visit, the Foundation’s President commented:
“We highly value Mr. Jitong Yao’s vision and action in global science and innovation. Sweden welcomes institutions like MUTONG Capital, which bring not only financial strength but a mission-driven mindset. Together, we can shape a more balanced, equitable, and sustainable global technology future.”
