Arbetslivet is becoming increasingly flexible, which in turn requires a secure and mobile way of working.
The office has shifted from being a physical location to being wherever you are. After the COVID-19 pandemic, we have seen a significant change where we are working much more mobily than ever before. Efficiency is high, and we get more done when we can work wherever we are while maintaining a simpler work-life balance, says Rickard Widerberg, Head of Product Development at Telenor.
However, the new way of working also presents challenges, especially when it comes to finding secure solutions for the hybrid workplace.
Open Wi-Fi networks at airports, train stations, and other public places pose potential security risks for companies, as do the home Wi-Fi networks of all employees to which company computers are now connecting much more frequently than a few years ago.
Seamless, Stable Connection

Telenor’s service, 5G Office Connect, is a solution that ensures employees are always connected to the 5G network.
“You never need to use any unknown Wi-Fi or home Wi-Fi,” says Rickard Widerberg. “Instead of searching for external Wi-Fi networks during business trips, at hotels, airports, and other places, you always have a seamless, stable connection and reliable access to the internet.”
“It’s like having an invisible LAN cable connected to your computer, no matter where you are. No connection is lost when moving between different points,” says Rickard Widerberg.
Simpler, More Efficient, and More Secure
Rickard Widerberg emphasizes that 5G Office Connect makes business trips simpler, more efficient, and more secure for employees and, by extension, the entire company.
All data traffic to and from your company’s devices goes through your IT environment, adhering to your existing IT policy.
Since the information from the company’s devices only moves through the company’s own logical 5G network, it stays within that network.
“This makes the solution secure even for sensitive information. Nothing leaks onto the internet since you never connect to external networks without first going through the company’s IT network,” says Rickard Widerberg.

Transition to the 5G Network
Andreas Kristensson, Sales Manager at Telenor, notes that we have witnessed several major technological revolutions over the past 15 years.
“Before that, everyone had fixed telephone exchanges. Then came cloud exchanges, and within a few years, the entire telecommunications market changed fundamentally. Another revolution occurred when cloud services emerged, and the entire server market disappeared.”
Kristensson notes that we are now at the beginning of a new revolution – or rather, an evolution – in which a shift from fixed networks to the 5G network has begun.
“Today, networks are as complex as they were in the 90s. You need to run lots of cables and have numerous access points in the ceiling – while our work behavior and methods have changed. The modern workplace requires new technology that accommodates this new way of working, and that technology is now available.”
